Possible Contaminated Nuts

Minnesota-based Hormel Foods Sales, LLC has issued a recall for two varieties of Planters nuts due to potential listeria contamination. The products in question are Honey Roasted Peanuts and Deluxe Lightly Salted Mixed Nuts, which were distributed to Publix warehouses in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina, as well as Dollar Tree warehouses in South Carolina and Georgia.

The contamination was discovered after the products were produced and distributed in April. Listeria monocytogenes, the organism in question, can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

The Honey Roasted Peanuts have a UPC code of 2900002097 and a 'best by' date of April 11, 2025. The Deluxe Lightly Salted Mixed Nuts have a UPC code of 2900001621 and a 'best by' date of April 5, 2026.

Hormel has stated that these are the only products involved in the recall and there have been no reports of anyone getting sick from the recalled products. All affected retailers have been notified.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them, but instead either discard them or return them to the store where they were purchased for a replacement or full refund.

For questions or concerns about the recall, consumers can contact Hormel Foods Customer Relations at 800-523-4635.
